The recipient of the Love Wynyard Arts Festival 2013 is the Wescombe family. The Wescombe's are a local family with a 6 year old son who suffers from an undiagnosed condition that prevents him from doing many things including walking, talking, standing and even sitting. Since Dylan was born Brendan & Tamara have not had a full nights sleep and Dylan requires full time care as well costly medical expenses.
DYLAN'S STORY:
Hi my name is Dylan Wescombe. I was born in September 2006 weighing only 4lb 3oz. I was born with multiple problems, I am missing part of the cells in the middle of my brain. I have a small jaw. I was born with four holes in my heart - three holes have closed over but I still have one small hole left. I have one kidney larger than the other as well as other minor issues.
My mum and dad have to do everything for me. I am almost 7 years old and I still can't walk, talk, stand up or even sit on my own for very long.
Just after my 3rd birthday I stopped eating for no reason and I am now fed through a feeding tube to my stomach. I am very small for my age and I weigh 22kg. I have a wheelchair so I can get around and I am yet to have a name for my condition.
